Show me the Money...

We try to make our pricing as transparent as possible, but it's very difficult to give a set price when cakes vary so much. The cakes and cupcakes in our collections are ready priced for the size shown, but bespoke cakes usually need to be quoted.

As a general guide, the cost of our cakes is made up of the following:

*   Price of ingredients

*   Sundry costs – cake boards, dowels, boxes, etc.

*   Overheads – electricity, water, etc.

*   Labour – never less than the national living wage per hour

All our cakes are handmade from scratch and as such, generally take at least four hours to make. Four hours of work means four hours of labour cost, so our minimum price for a celebration cake is £65. *

The more complex the finish on the cake, the more time it takes and the more expensive the cake becomes. Wedding cakes, for example, often include multiple tiers and lots of intricate decorations, so usually take several days to make; this is reflected in the price.

If you have a specific and fixed budget for your event, please let us know when you contact us, along with details of what you are hoping to achieve. We will do our best to advise on what will be possible and how we might be able to cut costs. For example, we might use dummies to create extra tiers in a wedding cake, or use pre-made food safe models (rather than hand-made edible models) for a child's birthday cake. If your design will not be possible within your budget contraints, we will endeavour to suggest an alternative.

* £65 would be equivalent to a 6 inch round Vanilla Cake, filled with Buttercream and Strawberry Champagne Conserve, covered with ganache and sugarpaste, with no decoration, boxed and on a display board.
